Prof. Ivaylo Stefanov Stefanov, PhD

Trakia University

Ivaylo Stefanov, DVM, PhD, DSc, is Professor of Anatomy, Histology and Cytology at the Faculty of Medicine of Trakia University. His research focuses on macro- and microscopic anatomy, angiology, mast-cell morphology and the innervation of the biliary system. His scientific activity combines morphometric, histochemical, enzymohistochemical and immunohistochemical methods to investigate the structure and function of the gallbladder and extrahepatic biliary tract.

Study of the distribution and histochemical, enzymohistochemical and immunohistochemical characteristics of mast cells in the porcine gallbladder, common hepatic duct and common bile duct.

Macro- and micromorphometric analysis of the porcine gallbladder and extrahepatic biliary ducts.

Investigation of the innervation of the porcine gallbladder, common hepatic duct and common bile duct.

Scientific Training

Participant in a Short-Term Scientific Mission dedicated to mast cells and basophils as targets for innovative therapies at the Institute of Molecular Genetics in Prague.
